Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah students and staff kicked off Read Across America on Monday March 2nd.   See below for a list of events and activities . . .

Read Across America 2015
Elementary Activities Mon. 3/2 – Fri. 3/6

1.        Read Across America Question of the Day – each day during the week   3/2 – 3/6 (Ann A. & Ann G.)  Each morning at 9:00 various students and Ann or Ann will read a question of the day (relating to authors  and books).  Classrooms may work together to figure out the answer and students may turn in their responses in the library.  We will have 2 boxes (1 for grades JK-2 & 1 for grades 3-6).  Each morning we will announce the winners and read a new fact and questions.  Two winners will be chosen each day.
(Winners will receive a book from Scholastic)

2.       Special “Read Across America Lunches”  Lunch menu goes with a book(s) Mon.-Fri.
Teacher on lunch duty will read the book that goes with the lunch

3.       Dr. Seuss bookmarks/Reading Bracelets for all students JK-4

4.       Guest Readers in the JK-4 classrooms – during the week parents of students in your classroom can share a story (this will be done in each individual classroom)

5.       Classroom Door Decorating - Favorite Book Character or Book

6.       Special Dr. Seuss  hats & and art projects – coordinated by Mrs. Hammes

7.       Staff holding favorite book – bulletin board  ( Ann G. will send an e-mail next week and offer various times
that you can come to the library for a quick picture.)

8.       Mon. March 2^nd – Timber Rattlers Reading Incentive Kick-Off.  Special visit from Fang the mascot at 9:30 in the elem. gym. 

9.       Tuesday March 3^rd  “JK-4  Elementary  School Buddy Reading” and Red & White Day
All classrooms will meet in the elementary library  at 11:00 and read until 12:00 (or whatever works for your class)

10.   Thurs. March 5^th – Author Visit        2 presentations   JK-2 and 3-5  in the library
9:00-9:45            Grades 3-5
10:00-10:45       Grades JK-2

11.   Friday March 6^th  Dress Up As Your Favorite Book Character Day  

12.   Friday, March 6^th   Dr. Seuss Birthday Celebration at 10:00 in Elem. Cafeteria (Mini Cupcakes – “Off the Rail”)
All students (JK-4) will go to the cafeteria and sing happy birthday to Dr. Seuss. 
Cupcakes  will be delivered to classrooms and students will enjoy during snack
