Spooky Stories Night

On Thursday October 27th families with students in grades JK-4 were invited to a special literacy event called "Spooky Stories Night".  Parents listened to Ann Ahola  Reading Specialist explain the importance of literacy and shared tips on how parents can help their children improve comprehension skills and become better readers.  Mrs. Ahola also read the book "Very Scary" and shared tips on reading aloud to children.  Mrs. Graumann introduced parents to Destiny (our schools online library catalog) and showed them how to look up materials in the online catalog and also how to locate books with their child's specific Lexile reading level.  Mrs. Graumann also encouraged parents to sign up for a Destiny account and invited them to check out materials from the school library collection.  Students spent time with Mrs Bauer and made Spooky crafts and listened to Spooky stories.  The night culminated with a yummy fall snack and milk in the cafeteria.
